The saying goes that time flies when you are having fun. And boy how the time has flown by. It seems like it was only yesterday that I was so frustrated by pundits on TV and even those I found on my new foray into social media that I felt a real need to shout out to the world. I started this blog 6 years ago today.

I had been quietly posting charts to social media for almost a year before that but really just as sharing my own process and a record for me. The market crash was still firmly embedded in the minds of traders and investors. In fact it still has not been forgotten. But that particular day was full of chatter about how the charts did not matter. There was too much emotion to rely on it. I had heard that for years from fundamental analysts. but something this day was different. I had to reply. My first blog post Charts Still Do and Have Always Mattered was the beginning.

Since that start I have had a goal of educating and providing actionable information in this space. Historical studies of quantitative data are nice to read but if it is not actionable then what is the point? I wanted to combine education and action. Hopefully you have experienced that here when you visit. I have also tried to reply to every question and be kind and courteous, both here and on social media. I do occasionally mess up though.

So here is today’s actionable information. It is about being part of a community. and it comes to me from the Jesuits, but is applicable everywhere.

Three rules for getting along in a community:

1. You are not God

2. This isn’t heaven

3. Don’t be a jerk

Simple rules and you can apply them to life in general. Take the first: You are not God. If you think of God as an all knowing being this is easy to apply to like. You do not know everything and you are not in charge of every thing. The second: This isn’t heaven, also works. The world is not perfect so don’t expect it or anyone to be perfect and become more tolerant. The third should be easy. But how many people seem to show up on social media daily rested and ready to attack someone? Don’t be one of those people.

It has been a pleasure writing here and engaging with many of you over these 6 years and I hope to continue to do so for many more. Enjoy your day and everyone going forward.
