My friend Brian Shannon (@alphatrends) is full of knowledge, wisdom and useful information. He just fired off 3 tweets back to back that everyone on my stream (and outside of it) can learn from about focusing on the good set ups in front of you. There are still plenty of them daily.

You do not need to chase trending stocks that are extended. Look for those that are making fresh breakouts. He names a few. You can find many more.
