Planning the Family Vacations (Part I)

Time to plan that summer getaway before it gets too late. And the perfect trip for many families is a cruise. So get on the phone and call Allegiant travel (ticker:$ALGT) and book that Caribbean cruise on one of those ginormous ships with 25 decks a wave pool, ice rink, golf course and polo field from Carnival Cruise lines (ticker:$CCL).

ALGT

Allegiant has been in an uptrend since printing a hammer reversal candle April 15. With a Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator that has just crossed higher and a Relative Strength Index (RSI) that has moved higher it looks to continue up to at least the 200 day Simple Moving Average (SMA) at 44.22. If it can get through that then it has room to move higher to 45.00 and then 46.00. You tell the agent about the Carnival Cruise you want and she explains that CCL has fallen on some rough times.

CCL

CCL has been in a downtrend since February and has been trying to base out of it sideways. Thursday it had a failed breakout and printed a bearish solid black candle. It needs to get over the cross of the 50 and 200 day SMA’s to confirm it is moving higher. The MACD looks good and the RSI is also suggesting upside so wait for that signal. So you ask about Royal Carribbean Cruises (ticker:$RCL) instead. The agent gives you a similar story.

RCL

RCL has been in a long downward channel and is also trying to reverse it higher after printing a bullish hollow red candle on the 18th. But similar to CCL it had a massive bearish solid black candle on Thursday. The MACD and RSI for RCL are also supportive of a move higher but it needs to get over 42 to be able to move higher, so wait for that as a signal.

You thank the agent and tell her to book 4 passages for your wife, two kids and her mother on which ever is the cheapest. No need to wait since you will not be traveling.
