Choosing a Hotel for Spring Break

Spring break is coming up and many of you are either looking to go to Florida and escape your family or take your family to Florida to escape the cold. For yo, finding the best deal on a hotel is what it is all about. For the rest of you poor folks staying at home and continuing to manage your portfolios this post is for you.

The chart above of Choice Hotels ($CHH) shows a stock that has been in an uptrend since coming out of a base in June. The ensuing rising channel held it until it moved above the top in late February. This change of character led to a consolidating pullback in a bull flag. And the price is breaking above the bull flag Monday. An aggressive trader could buy the stock now using the low of the flag as a stop. The leg from about 58 to 64.50 into the flag would target a Measured move higher to 68.50 on the next leg higher. A more conservative view would be to wait for a new all-time high, over 64.50.

The rest of the chart supports owning this stock. The RSI is running higher in the bullish zone while the MACD is about to cross up. The Bollinger Bands® are starting to open up as well, allowing a move. And finally the parallel and rising SMA’s show a strong trend up.

So now you can participate in picking a hotel along with your traveling friends. Only you might come out of the experience with a fatter wallet.
