Books That Have Shaped My Process

I have had many people offer me some great books about markets over the years. I like memoirs and in depth analysis of specific aspects like Josh Brown’s Backstage Wall Street on the brokerage business, the High Frequency Trading environment by my friends Sal Arnuk and Joe Saluzzi, Broken Markets and Options Volatility Trading by Adam Warner. But as self help books in the markets the list below has given me a solid background and broad understanding of the trading world. There are clearly many others, but this is a start.
1. Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques, Steve Nison. A very quick easy and useful read. My favorite.
2. Elliot Wave Principle, Prechter and Frost, don’t be scared by Elliot Wave, this book has a great history of Fibonacci and his discoveries, the principles underpinning Elliot Wave.
3. Technical Analysis of Stock Trends, Edwards & Magee, known as the bible of Technical Analysis
4. Intermarket Analysis, John J. Murphy
5. Harmonic Trading, Scott M. Carney, when you are done his website is a great bookmark.
6. The Definitive Guide to Point and Figure, Jeremy du Plessis
7. Irrational Exuberance, Robert Schiller, a great take on bubbles using the real estate market.
8. Investment Psychology Explained, Martin Pring
9. The Black Swan, Nasim Taleb
10. Thinking Fast and Slow, Daniel Kahneman
For a little bit of everything try Technical Analysis The Complete Resource for Financial Market
Technicians, Kirkpatrick and Dahlquist, which wraps up many concepts in one place and will be a College Level Technical Analysis Course Textbook in the Cleveland area, if I can help it.
Oh, and as a teaser, will need to add number 11 this fall by someone that I am very close to.
