Book Review – How Traders Achieve Creative Flow, by Michael Bigger

I have known Michael Bigger longer than he realizes, having first met him while I was still on the inside at BNP Paribas building a Synthetic Prime Brokerage Group, in 2005. Even at that point he was looking to leverage information through the exchange of ideas. He has evolved this concept since then and adapted it to the book he has just published, How Traders Achieve Creative Flow, available as an Amazon e-book. As I read it there were several concepts that formed the foundation of his views. The first is that the progress curves for Technology and Information Sharing have made it virtually free to get the best information in massive quantities ever available to create a Flow of Ideas. As he puts it, Its a great time to be a trader. But it is not enough to just take in that flow. Part of the process of creation comes from participating in the exchange of that information. In this way all parties can benefit from the totality of that information to leverage that Flow of Ideas. Michael gets it! There is no magic system that can only take in information and have an edge over the rest of the market. Using the material out there and contributing is the key to growing and building ideas.

As if that alone was not enough, he then spells out the method to prepare yourself to participate on both sides with his 5 Habits to develop to Creative Flow. This is the meat of the book but it is not rocket science. Just simple ideas that anyone can implement. Read and live by these 5 basis rules and you are most of the way there. Using these tools he then explains how to Harness Intelligent Energy, extracting the valuable from the total, and Building a Creative Ecosystem connecting it all together. He then puts it all in an outline for a concise reference platform.

This is by far the shortest book I have read lately, but it is right to the point, and spot on about how the trading world is evolving. Do not mistake the brevity for a lack of information. Well thought out and to the point. Just like every winning trade you have had.
